Position Overview:
The Financial Accountant will play a key role in managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting regulations. You will work closely with the finance team to prepare financial statements, manage month-end close processes, and support audits. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, has strong accounting knowledge, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS). Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and assist with external audits and tax filings.
- Month-End Close:
Manage the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis. Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reported within deadlines.
- General Ledger Management:
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded. Perform account reconciliations and ensure that discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Tax & Regulatory Compliance:
Assist in the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on changes to tax laws and accounting standards that impact the business.
- Cash Flow & Expense Management:
Monitor cash flow and assist with the management of accounts payable and receivable. Provide insights into cost control and help identify areas for improvement in expense management.
- Audit Support:
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation, providing financial data, and ensuring compliance with audit requests.
- Process Improvement:
Continuously review and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting. Implement best practices in accounting and financial control.
Qualifications:
- CPA, CA, CIMA, ACCA qualification or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial accounting or auditing.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience in [specific sector] preferred but not essential.
