Position Overview:
The Systems Accountant will play a crucial role in managing, maintaining, and optimising the company’s financial systems. You will work closely with both finance and IT teams to ensure that the systems are aligned with business needs, support accurate financial reporting, and drive process improvements. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in both accounting and financial systems, and who enjoys problem-solving and implementing technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Maintenance & Optimization:
    Manage and maintain financial systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and fully operational. Identify opportunities to optimise system performance and automate financial processes to improve efficiency.
  • Financial System Implementation:
    Lead or support the implementation of new financial systems or system upgrades. Work closely with IT and finance teams to ensure smooth transitions and integration with existing processes.
  • User Training & Support:
    Provide training and support to finance team members on how to use financial systems effectively. Act as the primary point of contact for system-related issues, troubleshooting, and resolving system problems as they arise.
  • Financial Reporting Support:
    Ensure financial systems support accurate and timely financial reporting. Assist in the design and development of financial reports and dashboards that meet the needs of the finance team and senior management.
  • Process Improvement:
    Identify and implement improvements to financial processes through system enhancements. Collaborate with finance and operational teams to streamline workflows, enhance data accuracy, and reduce manual tasks.
  • Data Integrity & Security:
    Ensure the integrity and security of financial data within the systems, conducting regular audits and checks to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Work closely with IT to ensure robust data protection measures are in place.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:
    Liaise with IT, finance, and other departments to ensure that the financial systems align with business needs and support the organisation’s goals. Provide insights and recommendations on how systems can improve overall financial performance.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
    Ensure that financial systems comply with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on best practices in system management and ensure they are incorporated into the company’s processes.

Qualifications:

  • CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance systems management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and support non-technical users.
  • Experience in [specific sector] preferred but not essential.
